David Chap­man is pas­sion­ate about the pro­tec­tion of our wild places, and is a former trustee of the Corn­wall Wild­life Trust. He is a pro­fes­sional pho­to­grapher and writer, and his work is fea­tured reg­u­larly in BBC Wild­life MagazineNat­ural World, Bird Watch­ingBird Art & Pho­to­graphy, Corn­wall Today, Corn­wall LifeMMM, The Cara­van Club Magazine, Saga online magazine, Wild Corn­wall, and Small­holder. His pho­to­graphs are stocked by a num­ber of pho­to­graphic libraries.

David’s pho­to­graphs fre­quently win com­pet­i­tions at both local and national levels. In 2011 he won the Wild­life in the Garden sec­tion of the Inter­na­tional Garden Pho­to­grapher of the Year 2011 awards, with a photo of a tad­pole emer­ging through the water’s sur­face. He has twice won double awards from the Out­door Writers & Pho­to­graph­ers Guild for Pho­to­graphy and Excel­lence in Writ­ing, and in 2010 was awar­ded ‘Highly Com­men­ded’ by the Guild for his wild­life pho­to­graphy. His pho­to­graph of a great spot­ted wood­pecker drum­ming was a final­ist in the 2010 Inter­na­tional Garden Pho­to­grapher of the Year com­pet­i­tion, and in 2011 two of his images went through to the final round of judging in that com­pet­i­tion.
